Hello! We would like you to meet Daisy.

We, at Forever Friends Great Dane Rescue, would like you to know some things about Daisy.

Daisy is a four-year-old spayed female. She is a good looking, lean Dane that needs a dedicated, committed and experienced large breed owner. We are not fully aware of her life at first, but it is clear Daisy was not socialized in the beginning of her life. She takes time to trust strangers and new surroundings. FFGDRI takes on special needs dogs, among others, and Daisy is the perfect example of what our rescue is designed for. She is a wonderful, loving gal that needs a home committed to gaining her trust. The reward is overwhelming once you get it!
Daisy is a snuggler! In her current foster home, she loves each human, but displays different personalities to each one. It took a week before she would go near her foster mom, but since then she prefers to snuggle; often rolling over on her back for her belly-rubs. Although it took a little longer for Daisy to trust her foster dad, she is super playful with him and very active when he comes home from work.

Daisy knows common commands, such as sit, shake, and come. Daisy has been evaluated by a professional trainer recently, as she was not progressing behaviorally when strangers or new environments were introduced. With the advice from the trainers, Daisy and her foster home are working very hard on making positive progress. This will take time and a new owner will need to keep up with the regime suggested, as it is working. Daisy’s fur-ever home will need to continue exposing Daisy to humans and be willing to use positive reinforcements, while being firm, and reward her when she conquers her fears.

A fenced in yard is not required for Daisy, but her foster mom thinks that it would best serve her personality. She is a healthy and active girl and loves to “turn her motor on”. She has an interest in small animals (geese, ducks) but shows a low prey-drive. She is still working on potty-training and most times her accidents occur during storms.

Daisy is easily redirected if she tries to counter surf, but if no one is watching, she will snag a tub of butter. Because of her size and needs, Daisy needs a home with no children and no dogs.

Daisy responds well to her crate; when she gets overwhelmed, she retreats to her “safe place” in her crate so she can calm herself down. She is not destructive and enjoys her toys. She walks well on a leash and enjoys the outdoors.

Forever Friends Great Dane Rescue adopts to qualified homes in the states of Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, and parts of Wisconsin.
